DreamRoomer Wins TC Moscow 2013 Start-up Battle

December 9, 2013

Although only one emerged victorious, they were all winners at TechCrunch Moscow 2013.

All the companies chosen to participate went through prep work and were able to meet the right people and present their solutions, bringing progress with them and taking it to the core of innovation in the international community.

The six finalists were determined the day before. Five teams were chosen by the experts from among the 38 participants of the primary exhibition program who were presented on stage at the Digital October Center during Demo Day.

One more finalist, a project from Start-up Alley 2.0, the participants of which did not have a chance to give their pitches, was pulled out of the Battle by voting that was overseen by SurveyMonkey among the 850+ conference delegates.

The judges were most impressed by the following on the first day:

Looky: an individual TV program and show description for more than 200 channels, including over 100 regions

DreamRoomer: an online service where landlords can find their ideal tenants without an intermediary

ObmenIgrami: a universal and convenient service for exchanging and selling used games and accessories

Gbooking: a system for searching for, comparing, and booking services online using a price optimization and enterprise research algorithm

Medesk: a medical cloud platform that helps private clinics, insurance companies, and corporations interact with each other

The viewer prize was taken home by Aviashopper, a mobile guide to the world’s airports.

Each was again awarded three minutes to talk about their product, competitors, achievements (current and planned), and team, after which the jury, which was made up of venture capitalists Maxim Krasnykh (Intel Capital), Oleg Kuzhikov (Maxfield Capital Partners), and Frederic Court (Advent Venture), as well as founder of global idea accelerator Founder Institute Adeo Ressi, had the opportunity for a cross examination.

The host of TechCrunch Russia, editor of TC Europe Mike Butcher, admonished the projects to “answer the judges concisely, which will mean you’ll have the opportunity to answer more questions and they’ll be able to understand your project better.”

DreamRoomer came away the winner. The start-up allows home and apartment owners to find the renters of their dreams. To rent out an apartment, the owner must register on the site, upload pictures of the apartment, and select a renter from among the users of the resources. The agreement is completed by mutual consent and without intermediaries.

Kite Ventures and the Digital October Center congratulate the newly crowned victor of the fourth TechCrunch Moscow.
