Excursiopedia won the “Battle of the Startups” at TechCrunch Moscow 2012

On December 10, in the framework of the second day of the international IT conference TechCrunch Moscow 2012, the finals in a startup competition was held. The winner was the Excursiopedia portal for reserving excursions.

On October 9, a jury selected six out of the 44 companies represented at the conference. In the finals of the “Battle of the Startups,” Excursiopedia competed with such projects as RealtimeBoard, ohmystats!, Teamlab, Endorphin, and AdEasy. For its victory in the contest, the portal’s team received an invitation to any of the upcoming TechCrunch international events.

Excursiopedia is a social platform for reserving excursions in various countries. The portal was launched in January 2011, and the company has offices operating in Germany, Spain, and Russia. On the website, tourists can select excursions, walks, culinary tours, or master classes in which they want to take part, and then they are connected with local private guides or tourist agencies. Thanks to Excursiopedia, guides find new clients and travelers find quality excursions. At present, Excursiopedia encompasses 900 cities in 120 countries, with excursions in 25 languages being offered to tourists. “We have a large number of visitors for a startup, and it’s growing by 20% every month,” says one of the founders and the director of the company, Kirill Sermyagin. “We have a good conversion rate, up to 4% in selected areas.” According to him, Excursiopedia has a great chance to become a leader on the excursion market.
