Vnimanie Educational Video Final Awards Ceremony
On November 28, from 3 PM to 8 PM, Digital October hosted the final ceremony for the first national Vnimanie Awards for the Best Educational Videos and Video Projects.
The event’s program included the announcement of winners, a press conference, and presentations on major trends in educational development. Presentations by Tonya Samsonova (Ekho Moskvy, Slon.ru), Tatiana Plutalova (VKontakte), and Yakov Somov (Lektorium.TV) were made.
The list of official selections is published on VnimanieTV.ru. More than 500 video lectures and 200 educational video projects have been nominated. The nominees include journalists Leonid Parfenov, Natalia Sindeeva, Oleg Kashin, and Yuri Saprykin; film directors Sergei Solovyov, Nikita Mikhalkov, and Avdotya Smirnova; scholars Sergei Kapitsa, Nikolai Drozdov, Lev Lurie, and Joseph Backstein; and businessmen Mikhail Prokhorov, Oleg Tinkoff, and Vladimir Dougan.
In recent months, video lectures have become a major trend in education development. Sites like a href="http://ted.com">TED.com and KhanAcademy.org are enormously popular; the best lectures on YouTube have garnered over a million hits. The Vnimanie Awards were established to make educational videos a viable alternative to entertainment content online, to create a single database of the best video lectures, and to attract major sponsors to the educational video sector.
