The annual Microsoft Student Day 3.0 event took place in the Digital October center on November 6 and included a presentation from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

This marked the third time Microsoft has held Student Day in Moscow. The event was opened to all students who would like to find out about the latest news and advances in the IT industry. Speakers at Student Day freely interacted with the audience, allowed guests to make the most of the specialists’ expertise.

The main highlight of the event was be a presentation from Steve Ballmer who told students about the company’s new products: Windows 8 and Windows Phone, which were only released to the general public a couple of weeks before the Student Day event in Moscow. The organizers also wowed participants by showing off the advanced capabilities of the Kinect motion sensor for the Xbox console.

Budding programmers were able to start developing apps for Windows 8 and Kinect straight after the CEO’s presentation. Anyone who does not want to start programming at the event were able to visit lectures and presentations, as well as take part in hands-on sessions and get useful careers advice.
