Yaroslav Maly’s “Producing of Music Projects” master class

On November 20 at Digital October, Machete and Tokio front man and founder of the Machete Records independent label Yaroslav Maly hosted a public master class on “Producing of Music Projects”.

Yaroslav Maly shot to fame as the Tokio lead singer after the MAXIDROM ’04 festival. Since its foundation, Tokio has been awarded a number of prestigious prizes, including a Golden Gramophone and Russian Music Award from MTV, and released three studio albums. Yaroslav Maly left the group for a while in 2010 and launched his first solo single in 2011 as part of his new project Machete. His music video for Nezhnost’ has attracted more than 20 million viewers on YouTube and Vimeo.

In 2011, Yaroslav launched his own music label Machete Records and the Red Rocks music festival with the support of Sberbank, the first event of which was held in the Krasnaya Polyana mountains in February 2011. According to Yaroslav, the main aim of the festival was to promote good Russian and foreign music, as well as get the country’s youth interested in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. Yaroslav believes that one of the main goals of Machete Records is to promote up and coming talent and organize large-scale international music festivals.

Yaroslav told guests about creating a label, recording an album, organizing a music festival, as well as supporting young artists and the nuances of Russian concerts.
