Loren Graham Lecture: What Lies In Store for Russia

June 5, 2014, 18:00 lecture

Loren Graham’s next lecture will take place on the occasion of the completion of Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology’s (Skoltech’s) academic year. Loren Graham is the leading international expert on the history of Russian and Soviet science, and has been teaching at MIT and Harvard for almost 50 years.

In his lecture, which is entitled, “Can Russia Compete?”, Graham will talk about Russia’s technological future. The scholar will discuss why, over the centuries, Russia’s discoveries in abstract science have rarely been widely implemented and spread to the West. Moreover, he will tell audience members why now is the perfect time for Russia to reverse this stubborn historical trend.

After the lecture, audience members will be invited to take part in a lively discussion with the MIT professor, to talk to Skoltech students in an informal setting and find out what the students are studying (how they are educated), and discuss the opportunities that our graduates enjoy.

Complimentary light hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. Participation is also free, but don’t forget to register.

This event will take place in English.
