Commercialization of biomedical technologies

July 3, 2012, 10:00 conference

On July 3, the first conference of the Healthcare Networking series of events, dedicated to innovations in biotechnology, took place at Digital October. The most pressing issues, including practical ones, of commercializing medical technologies were discussed at the conference.

Experienced specialists, representatives of health care, and practical entrepreneurs participated in the discussion.

In the first section, two issues were discussed: what technologies are needed by Russian health care and how a niche can be selected for commercialization of this technology.

In the second section, four startups presented their projects and received advice from the audience on how to develop more effectively. Then, a freeform section took place in which it was possible to interact and exchange business contacts in an informal situation.

Conference program:
12:00–13:00 Registration of participants
13:00–13:15 Introductory comments by Alexander Khasin, general director of the group of companies Nanobalans

The event took place with the support of the Department of Science, Industrial Policy, and Entrepreneurship of Moscow. The informational partner of the event was the PR agency A-TАК, and the organizer was the Medstars Association of Medical Startups.

Immediately after the conference, a lecture by Ellen Jorgensen — president of the New York laboratory Genspace, at which both professionals and amateurs can engage in genetic engineering — was held in the framework of the Knowledge Stream project. She talked about how the laboratory’s staff succeed in fostering a taste for scientific research in anybody who wants to, as well as what role is played by the creation of such a genetic laboratory.
