MIGZ Festival and Creative Connections Conference

September 17 – 18, 2011, 10:00 conference

From September 4th through 18th, the fourth international MIGZ contemporary music and media arts festival was held in Moscow. Several venues throughout the city hosted musical and multimedia performances, applied lectures for a mainstream audience, conferences, exhibitions, and film screenings.

The culmination of the festival was the third weekend of events, which took place at the Digital October Center on September 17th and 18th. It included five lectures from the Audiovisual Academy; three RMA presentations; a popular lecture by the magazine Popular Mechanics; MIGZ Sound Lab and MIGZ Market projects, as well as one of the festival’s highlights, a business conference known as the MIGZ Creative Connections Conference, which included a public lecture by Steve Blank.

The conference was devoted to the development of Russia’s creative economy. This sector includes all fields connected with the creation and implementation of ideas, as well as the use of intellectual property. The conference program included an open master class by the company Media Stars on “Social Media Marketing”; a series of reports on creative educational techniques from leading experts in the field; a panel discussion on “New Media” with participants from VICE Russia and Look at Me; a unit on the role of creativity in advertising and event management; a lecture by the Red Keds agency on “The Evolution of Ideas,” as well as discussions on the role of creative clusters in Russia. Speakers came to present at Gorky Park, the Flacon Design Factory, and several other sites.

The event was hosted by the MIGZ Festival’s organizing committee and the nonprofit communication project Synthetic Connections. To learn more about the conference, please visit the MIGZ CCC Facebook page.
